AI automation is a capital allocation decision, not a science project. Here is how a UAE CFO should evaluate it — and how to spot a business case that will actually pay back.
Measure against the status quo
The right baseline is the fully loaded cost of the current process: skilled hours spent, error and rework cost, delay cost (a slow lead response is lost revenue), and the opportunity cost of people doing work below their pay grade. Most automation business cases are won or lost on honestly counting that baseline.
Count the costs people forget
Beyond the build, budget for the operate-and-improve retainer, model and infrastructure running costs, and the change-management effort to get the team using the system. A business case that ignores these looks better than it is. We put them on the table up front, in AED, including VAT.
Demand a real before-and-after
Insist that any engagement defines its success metric and measurement plan before the build, and reports the before-and-after against real data. If a vendor can only show a demo and a deck, that is your signal. We ship working output by week two and measure against production data from week three.
